  1. Hi Ann,

I really like how sensory your work is. The sound of urination, the intensity of bold and bright colors, the orgasmic expression of the woman- the appeal of your work stems from these very mundane and vivid experiences that I think can resonate manifold with viewers who might contemplate their everyday thoughts, actions, and dreams. I too am compelled by how traditional book forms create narrative compared to non-traditional forms; I understand the concept of getting lost in a book, but how is it different from getting lost in a comic or a series of paintings? With books, or at least really good fiction books, I've always felt like you let yourself get pulled into the imagination of the author rather than your own, which you tend to do with static images, I think. With a series of images such as paintings, you kind of create your own narrative; your thoughts are grounded by the existent visuals. It's this idea of being pulled into someone else's world rather than your own...have you ever thought that maybe that connects to how certain people get really pulled into tv series' and others don't? The dichotomy of the watchers versus the doers, the readers versus the writers- i don't know, I think we kind of need to be both at some point just because getting stuck in the same perspective isn't that great for growth, or at least that's what i've been told.
